As all the rivers run into the sea, so all delights center in the Lord Jesus. The glances of His eyes outshine the sun: the beauties of His face are fairer than the choicest flowers; no fragrance is like the breath of His mouth. Gems of the mine and pearls from the sea are worthless things when measured by His preciousness.
Peter tells us that Jesus is precious, but he did not and could not tell us how precious, nor could any of us compute the value of God's unspeakable gift.
The Growing Preciousness Of Christ - Quidnessett Baptist Church
Words cannot convey the preciousness of the Lord Jesus to His people, nor fully tell how essential He is to their satisfaction and happiness. Believer, have you not found in the occasion of plenty a sore famine if your Lord has been absent? The sun was shining, but Christ had hidden Himself, and all the world was dark to you; or it was night, and since the bright and morning star was gone, no other star could yield you so much as a ray of light.
What a howling wilderness is this world without our Lord! If once He hides Himself from us, withered are the flowers of our garden; our pleasant fruits decay; the birds suspend their songs, and a tempest overturns our hopes. All earth's candles cannot make daylight if the Sun of Righteousness be eclipsed. He is the soul of our soul, the light of our light, the life of our life. Dear reader, what would you do in the world without Him when you wake up and look ahead to the day's battle?
Do we encounter Jesus beyond Savior to that of teaching prophet? Finally, we grow in the preciousness of knowing Christ as our High Priest, or advocate. This is so important to healthy Christian growth.
We sin. And when we do, our conscience and the devil are quick to pounce on us with burning accusations.

They rake us across the coals of guilt and shame seeking to create doubt and unhealthy fear toward God. But then. Advocate Jesus comes to our rescue. He pleads our case.
He is our lawyer in the divine court room. And He is not pleading our case before a reluctant Father. Remember, God the Father gave us His Son as our advocate. We need Him beyond Savior.
It is what made His death, and, therefore, His blood, so precious. Baptism puts us into contact with the blood of Christ.

Paul said that we are baptized into His death Romans This is why Jesus could say He shed His blood for the forgiveness of sins Matthew , and Peter could say that we are baptized for the forgiveness of sins Acts There is no contradiction between Jesus and Peter because it is in the waters of baptism that the blood of Christ washes away our sins. But, the precious blood of Jesus does not stop there. The power of His blood continues to work in our lives and helps us to preserve our fellowship with God 1 John Thank God for the blood of Jesus!
Preciousness of Christ
It is because of the precious, cleansing blood of Christ that we do not have to be sinless in order to be saved. In fact, John says that if we say that we have no sin the truth is not in us 1 John Fortunately, if we repent and continue to walk in the light, the blood of Christ keeps on washing away our sins. Only the gospel offers this blessing. The Law of Moses did not have this ability.
